The word Armageddon appears only once in the New Testament, in Revelation 16:16.
There are several references to it in the Old Testament as the hill of Megiddo. Har Megiddo (Har - Hebrew for hill) was one of the three fortified cities built by King Solomon, the excavations of which can still be seen today. *
